The government proposes that the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) receive an additional 34.2 million SEK. The aim is to enhance IMY's ability to address new challenges in the field of data protection.
The increased funding is intended to provide IMY with better resources to address changes in the legal landscape, particularly concerning the handling of complaints and new requirements from EU regulations. Additionally, there is a growing need for supervision of camera surveillance due to changes in the camera surveillance law, as well as increased demand for guidance related to technological development and innovation.
David Törngren, Acting Director General of IMY, expressed his appreciation for the government's proposal, viewing it as a recognition of the importance of the authority's mission.
Karin Lönnheden, Chief of Staff at IMY, emphasized that the additional funding will enhance the authority's ability to provide guidance to organizations in various sectors on complex data protection issues and contribute to sustainable digital development.
